Consulting Rooms

Welcome to the Consulting Rooms

This area of the Safehouse is designed to offer more specific advice for clinicians. The issues discussed and language used here are common to these groups and not intended to cause offence to non-clinicians. The Waiting area covers issues that may be common to all patient-facing staff, whereas the specific doctors and nurses areas give more targeted advice.

Waiting Area

Waiting Area

Welcome to the waiting area for the consulting rooms. Whilst you're here you can find help on issues specific to interacting with patients on a clinical footing.

The skill of a good clinician goes way beyond diagnosis and treatment; we are also called upon to exercise extraordinary people skills and practise self-management skills which, whilst explored in training, often become much more complex as the years go on.

This area offers ideas, models, examples and possible answers to commonly experienced professional problems in these areas, and links to other webpages with further information.

Allied Health Professional Office

Allied Health Professional Office

Much of the support found here at Gloucestershire Safe House is accessible to AHPs as part of the general practice workforce, however in the AHP office you will find practical links to more profession specific support agencies as well as some case studies and advice. Local forums and networks as well as regional and national do exist and can be of great help. When forging new paths the way can be rocky, but these are pioneering times and the benefit of multi-professional roles for AHPs, their colleagues and patients are also extremely rewarding when successfully supported.
