Staff Room

Welcome to our Staff Room.

This area of the Gloucestershire Safe House is designed to help understand that ever-present aspect of primary care – the way we get on together as professional teams. Our aim is to help you clarify the many issues which could be getting in the way of optimal working relationships and to offer suggestions which might contribute to greater harmony.

Emotional intelligence in Professional Relationships

Good relationships form the bedrock of a happy and fulfilled life. We are social beings and our social connectedness nurtures and supports us and strengthens our emotional stamina and wellbeing. Relationships take work and effort and care. If time and effort are put in from the outset, a firm foundation will be laid for future harmony. If relationships have already soured beyond a critical point, then it will take time, care and commitment to repair the damage.

Culture Setting

What is culture? A simple definition is ‘all the ideas, customs and social behaviours of a particular population that are passed down from generation to generation because they are considered to be important’. In organisations this can be précised as ‘how things get done around here’.
